Cloudy days in the real estate market? Not so for eco-friendly buyers isunny days in ashevillen the Asheville, NC area. ... 

 "Sunny days" (see photo )are still to be had. And, as I  reviewed the happenings in the real estate market here in the Greater Asheville area, I recognized bright trends and forecasts. 

Yes, to some extent, we have felt the effects of credit tightening and the sub-prime mortgage crisis.

But consider this:  Demand for green built homes has only increased.

And, in Asheville, it seems to help drive our market in a healthy trajectory.

For those relocating to Asheville:

That's pretty impressive. I've been toying with the idea of a solar lanai, yard lights, outdoor kitchen... I may have to take a class on this. Thank you for sharing this information. A green market report. Very cool. :-)

Hi janeAnne--It sounds like you have a healthy inventory of 3rd party certified.  We have a few Energy Star and there are a couple new homes going for LEED, but it's pretty limited.  We do have a few ICF's and an occassional straw bale.  I did get our MLS to include features though, so we can at least find green elements in non-certified homes.  Keep up the good work NC!!!

janeAnne--The board was apologetic that they could only "let me have" 24 features.... as that is the way our program is set up.  I had submitted a list of 40ish items thinking I'd get a few incorporated into various categories... but they gave us a whole "GREEN" category!  I was ecstatic!  Good luck with yours!

I am having a great time reading the blogs on the group.  I'm learning things I didn't know, which I'm loving!!!

Took a fall on some ice today.  Think I'm going to have to get my wrist and elbow xrayed--I'm having a hard time typing and that's definitely not good!
