We have been looking at neighborhood information about Asheville NC at a certain provider.
But, after spending hours looking at all the data, we are not sure if it tells the Asheville story. We are wondering if you, as a "local expert" can interpret the data we found- for example, does the data really represent the quality of neighborhoods correctly?
We are ready to buy a home in Asheville and have been trying to decide what would be the best neighborhood for us. Can you help us? The answer is YES! But before we define the neighborhood for you, let me ask you a few questions... Since you choose, as many do, to do basic research about Asheville real estate online before you contact a local expert, did you...
1. Start with a strong overview of Asheville? (Getting a strong overview applies no matter where you live.)
2. Actually check the accuracy of the data? (Checking demographics for accuracy and not relying on a single source may point out discrepancies. The current population of Asheville, North Carolina on August 18th 2010 is approximately 74,823 which differs in the tens of thousands from the source you used. )
3. Take a look at the City Plan for the current year? ( Here's the link to the 2010 Asheville City Plan University of North Carolina at Asheville D. H. Ramsey Library Special Collections/University Archives.)
When relocating buyers rely on data crunching and end up with inaccurate information it can weaken their chances of success. Check out this excellent post by NC real estate professional, Leesa L. Finley who correctly points out that computer-generated programs simply supply "information from various sources and then runs it through a program to give you information based on a mathematical equation. Trust me, there is no human sitting at a desk .... can not replicate and therefore will never be able to accurately price real estate is the human touch and the ability to physically see into other properties." [Note: Deviation rate is somewhere between 10 and 20%--this translates to your correctly assumed conclusion that reliable real estate information in Asheville or Anytown, USA comes from the local expert!]
But you wrote that you are serious about finding a home in Asheville. You say you are ready to invest in a home in this beautiful area. And you want to get an "up close and human" perspective. I am so pleased! You came to the right place for reliable real estate information and a real estate professional who knows the neighborhoods, and their stories, and the very real possibilities in local real estate for you.
