Asheville NC Real Estate: Where we celebrate

sustainable, green-friendly homes! Living in Asheville could mean you especially prize the Land on which to site a dream  home - will it be a log home extending out across the valley as if almost to reach the "waves" of mountains beyond as the one pictured here does?- or  a cabin by a  stream?

With Asheville's many welcoming settings, things to do and see, cultural amenities, and wonderful locally-grown and harvested organic food, it is easy to see why Asheville is on so many Top 10 Lists.

WHENyou could decide to LIVE-ASHEVILLE- find the land on which to build a second or vacation home- invest in a turnkey second or vacation home, then it is time to ask three (3) basic questions::

1. Does the location work in terms of proximity to Asheville's amenities? (Proximity)

2. Will this property start out on a vacation rental program, later to become our main residence? (Zoning-Restrictions)

3. What features must this home provide? (Allure)

So with these points in mind: Proximity, zoning/deed restrictions and the interior/exterior allure of the second, vacation home or log home....You are ready.

"Green" Sustainable Real Estate is energy efficient. ! And saving energy and $$$ is exciting.  Things HAPPEN when people start getting together and talking. And the the talk here in the Greater Asheville area, where "THINGS" already are happening, is about making wise choices in terms of sustainability.  Here in Asheville, it is safe to say that we are on a roll for sustainable inoovation.

Asheville, N.C.'s creative citizenry has set its heart on finding ways around the "energy crisis" and the global warming predicament. They are taking a leadership role in "unearthing" new ways that will benefit our ecology and our economy. 

EXAMPLE: FUEL EFFICIENCY & BIO DIESEL FUEL 

Take, for example, one community owned business, Blue Ridge BioFuels. This business has a two-fold objective:1) Educate potential users and 2) Bring locally produced clean-burning products to Asheville and Western North Carolina. I asked them about their source. "Our biodiesel is produced from Asheville area/local restaurants' waste vegetable oil and burns cleanly in any diesel engine, " I was informed.

Furthermore, "no modification is necessary to use biodiesel in your diesel vehicle. This could be a real boon for REALTORS and their clients. And get this! Biodiesel can also replace the home heating oil! Here in Asheville,  you can find it right at a local gas station (Gas-Up) .


One thing that contributes to Asheville's good "karma" is the way of sharing happens here....if you join the boiodiesel coop, you can get a discounted price on the fuel. Asheville is on the "greenfront" ... In Western North Carolina, the N.C. Solar Center, a State-sponsored agency, has joined the bandwagon. Warren Wilson College, eager to make use of the new fuels joins UNCA, and Buncombe County Solid waste in using fuel efficient vehicles and bio-fuel.

Recently, the tractor-maker, John Deere, heeding the demands of its customer base and the demand for more efficient use of energy American farmers, rolled out the first of its new line of tractors burning B2, a blend of conventional diesel fuel containing B2 percent biodiesel. And BioWillie, the brand of biodiesel that country-music star and FarmAid hero Willie Nelson introduced, is now "singing" to the nation's long-haul truckers... with the applause of clean air advocates. It is far cleaner than petro-diesel and more than three times more energy-efficient to produce.
