Yesterday was the perfect brisk and sunny October day for visiting Asheville's Amazing Arboretum.
Right away - raise your expectations! Asheville's Amazing Arboretum is anything but a collection of trees! There are choices to be made, whether strolling through gardens, exploring exhibits, hiking along the trails or the choice we focused on for this post: Asheville's Amazing Arboretum's ART WALK
It is all about enriching visitors' experiences at the Arboretum.
So that is what you can expect- including:
A 434-acre preserve, 65 acres of which is in cultivated gardens
Ten (10!) miles of hiking and biking trails
Indoor and outdoor exhibits that excite the special life connection we all share.
A totally awesome Bonsai Exhibition Garden
An innovative Production Greenhouse with rainwater harvesting.
The choices are many. The experiences are rewarding--possibly why so many people relocate to Asheville. But today, the choice was to focus on the outdoor gardens, the Art Walk and at least 20 art pieces in the garden areas beneath the trees.
On the Art Walk you might encounter an 11ft. x 4 ft x 3ft Bronze masterpiece among the trees.
"I try to show the feeling we all have and can relate to..." says the sculptor, Neill Bannister Scruggs of this work.
As I took this shot (see photo) I understood his sentiment. It feels as if this bronze is alive as he reaches to the warmth of the sun.
Asheville's Arboretum reports, "Each year more than 370,000 visitors experience the Arboretum's gardens, trails, exhibits, shows and expos, educational programs, demonstrations and lectures for all ages."

As - Henry David Thoreau said, "Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders." And expect this at Asheville's Amazing Arboretum.
