Here in Asheville there is a noticeable demand for human scale design in homes. And shortly you can see why as, in Part 4 of this series, I take you on a video tour of such a home.
This home is a solid example of the application of universal design elements and an adaptive environment that can work for all ages, abilities, and/or situations. So here is the video I shot just the other day-- keep an eye out for the "zero-step" feature and please know that at least three (3) other design essentials exist in this home. Here, the homeowner explains the "livability" features of the home ...
1.Zero-step entrance, at the front, back or side of the house.
2. All main floor doors, including bathrooms, with at least 32 inches of clear passage space.
3. At least a half bath, preferably a full bath, on the main floor.
