Also, as long-time school teacher and guidance counselor, I am qualified to recommend the schools in the Greater Asheville area - Buncombe, Madison, Yancey, Henderson and Haywood counties of Western North Carolina.
However, NC REALTORS® must refer you to the Experts when it comes to your children's education. And, when it comes to the best learning environment for each child no one knows better than the child's parent what the best learning experience for the child is. Parents, you are the Experts from toddlers to teens...
Asheville Area Public and Private Schools- How Do They Stack Up?
To discover how the Asheville area schools stack up with other schools in a particular neighborhood, or across North Carolina, investigate data and use your own observations in a two-step process..
First Step-Whether you are relocating to Asheville, or just moving from one school district to another, I always recommend that parents investigate dataabout the schools in the Asheville area. http://nbcscorecard.greatschools.org/ The Asheville area schools data looks at the percentage of students who met and exceeded state standards on annual standardized exams in two main subject areas: reading and mathematics. You will find graphics that demonstrate how well students performed at a particular school as compared to students across the district and state.
Second Step- Call the school to make an appointment to visit the school in the Asheville area neighborhood you will be where you will be making your home. Speak with the Principal. Ask for a tour of the facility. Observe the learning environment.
