clients- in particular those of us who work with large acreages in rural areas. Data includes the number of housing units without a vehicle with low access to a supermarket or large grocery store. Here are interesting links to "food deserts" in the USA and to maps containing other potentially valuable information. The links, from USDA Economic Research are located on the ERS website.
GO HERE to interact with various maps that provide data - including information about Rural and Small-Town America - socioeconomic factors: jobs, agriculture and/or information about Farm Program Acres - farm programs and planted acreage data - acreage planted - (corn, grain sorghum, barley, oats, wheat, rice, cotton, peanuts, and oilseeds)- as well as planted acreage from USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service .
These maps may inform wise land choices.
