As demonstrated by the numbers of posts in the 30 Days in September Challenge, REALTORS ® can be the “Go-To” resource for a variety of information about a community. And then there is the added benefit for clients of data interpretation and a market trend watch. For you this might include keeping an eye out for what's happening in terms of healthy homes and living— maintaining and improving the environmental quality of a home, neighborhood and community. Certainly, this can be one important “slice of the information pie" in terms of the attitude and/or culture of the community, and it can be especially valuable to relocating clients.
The growing consumer demand for healthy-built homes and sustainable innovation is a subject of interest for so many readers interested in becoming knowledgeable stewards of the property they are purchasing.
In fact when it comes to environmental issues, North Carolina law requires an agent to disclose certain facts about and pertaining to the property being transferred. These facts extend beyond the physical features of the house or land. In order responsibly to provide this information the agent may need to do research about environmental conditions in and relating to the property.
NAR GREEN® and the ECO Certified ®Real Estate Consultant courses can provide a starting point for that research allowing the real estate professional to:
1. be able to assess the relevancy of environmental facts on a specific real estate transactions,
2. be able to respond, through the understanding and resources present here, to issues regarding “facts of special interest to the client” on a variety of environmental topics including air and energy, soil and water,
3. be able to guide the client to a variety of information on environmental regulations and alternatives that will be of service to both the client and the community.
4. know more about population trends, air and water quality, sediment control, land trusts, greenways, energy conservation and alternatives and other relevant environmental issues.
