So often "Baby Boomers," charged with the energy of a final destination, seek "the perfect home” - with features such as The View, The Location, The Perfect Energy Efficient and Healthy Dwelling. Once all this has been accomplished, and the same people are sitting, in Good Company, of an afternoon, just looking out over the vista…
...is there Something Else that satisfies? Perhaps the duet of cardinals? Perhaps the way the sun plays on the land?
Or perhaps it is a champagne breeze…as described below...my experience on this Asheville afternoon …
Good Balance
standing here on my deck,
late afternoon,
August,
crisp and steady breeze
…about seven knots,
running east
brushing boldly
the swell of mountains
that plunge into the valley
all rolling
in fast shadows.
Once again, as memory allows,
I feel the champagne breeze.
I am the skipper
sailing down the Eternal River at a good clip
at the helm of my sweet vessel
with the Captain
standing by.
