Real “Woman-Centric” Appeal?
There’s a MAN in My (GREEN) Kitchen.. Is it You EMERIL?

Have you ever watched Emeril grocery shopping? According to SymphonyIRI* http://www.symphonyiri.com/ current consumer research study of which many buyers, sellers and REALTORS® may be aware: “ …there are several important distinct differences between male and female shoppers [for example, during the recession] men adopted money-saving strategies that point to a deliberate and well thought-out grocery purchase processes ….”
Well! I’m going to invite that man right on over to My Kitchen! Which reminds me what … Debb Janes’ http://activerain.com/debbjanes said in Part 2 of this series on woman-centric design choices/ kitchens: “Don't we all love kitchens? The heart of the home in my opinion. My dream kitchen includes a husband (preferably mine) who cleans up after himself. :)”
A Man in My Kitchen! … Here’s what I, Greenolina want to know: Beyond men’s reputed “well thought-out grocery purchase processes ….” do guys desire kitchen features that women desire as per Part 1? ….
a) plenty of storage,
b) nicely situated prep areas
c) space for guests and family to mingle
d) high-end, energy-efficient appliances,
e) gas cooktops and generous refrigerators.
OR shall might we expect more emphasis on implements…sharp knives, standalone stainless steel mincers, and big, big energy efficient subzero refrigerators…and a more “aesthetic balance” when it comes to feminine and masculine decor and design?
OR is this there a certain panache that changes the atmosphere when there’s a Male in the Kitchen having little to do with “design”?… I asked Andy M… who commented------ in Part 3…
“The kitchen is the new living room. You spend lots of time getting meals prepared if you enjoy cooking. With everyone pitching in. … dad with four kids … when they are home for summer break, we all pitch in to cut the mushrooms, saute the peppers and make a leisurely meal with tunes on and plenty of communication. Kitchens are more than a place to woof down a meal….”
“ Alex who just graduated from GW in Washington,” he wrote, “ is home until heading to Colorado for winter job at ski area. He is busy as a bee baking beans, anadama bread and is the best cook of the four although they are all pretty savvy cookers. Not mac and cheese and bolgona and cheese kids.
Further Kitchen advice from Andy: Give them time to work in the kitchen, don't just do all the cooking. Teach them how. As for design-style… This kitchen is wild hickory with original 1913 ceiling in a federal style home. Has a pantry with original slate sink. It is a working kitchen, not museum Mister Roger's one.
