We make it a practice to keep an eye out for clients eager to relocate to Asheville with the intention of creating a family farm of their own. So this weekend, June 26th and 27th, we are heading out to visit at least 10 family farms in the Asheville area to meet farmers who already have done this successfully. For others on the tour, this could be the perfect opportunity to look at how a variety of farms (37 at last count) operate. But we are taking into account the stated desire for right livelihood expressed by our clients who anticipate this way of life as a solution to their quest.

Looking at Asheville area real estate in a relaxed way as we tour sizable area within an hour of Asheville, means we have the opportunity to speak with the owners of family farms . This is something we anticipate with pleasure each year when we take the Mountain Family Farm Tour.
A snapshot of farm life.
In just a weekend, we can get a snapshot of what life is like on the Asheville area farms. There are organic growers, orchard tenders,berry farmers- friendly people all about.
This snapshot of farm life in the Asheville region " home to agriculture of all kinds, ranging from century farms cultivated by the same family for generations, to certified organic farms, to urban garden," is an important element in the decision-making process when it comes to making the choice to invest in a way of life that is both demanding and rewarding.
Animals? Get a close up look at goats, chickens, lambs, horses, mules, cows, donkeys, and maybe some you did n
ot expect to visit- bison and llamas! (see photo)
Farming Skills? Apple butter making, milking, wool spinning and storytelling...We are looking forward to another scoop of artisan ice cream to top off the picnic we'll have at a farm along the way.
What's New Down on the Farm? Farms using renewable energy systems, a hydroponics system, and edible landscapes -and maybe even a putting green! (I'm smiling)
